Tourists are attracted to Mattupetty Lake, is 14 Km away from Munnar. Rajamalai is situated 15 Km away, where Nilgiri Tahr is preserved. Top Station is 40 Km away from Munnar.

Ooty, the "Queen of Hill Stations" is the headquarters of the Nilgiris district. It is one of the Best tourist resorts and is called as "Blue Mountains". It is a land of dreams, a picturesque and most popular hill station in South India. Nature has composed its magic here also blooms forth in flowers. There is a veritable riot of colors as multi hued birds fill the skies. Apart from coffee and tea plantations, trees like conifers, eucalyptus, pine and wattle dot the hillside in Ooty and its environs.
The temperature varies from 25°c to 10°c during summer and between 21°c and 0°c during winter. The best time to visit is April to June and September to November. Ooty is a trekker's delight and nature lover's paradise.

Rail: Nearest broad gauge railway head is Mettupalayam (46 kms). Major broad gauge railway junction is Coimbatore. It is connected with all major cities. A Mountain Railway that takes 4 hours for journey connects Mettupalayam to Ooty.
Road: Ooty is connected to other parts of the country with good roads. Regular bus services from and to Ooty are operated by public and private transport organizations.
Air: The nearest airport is at Coimbatore, 100km from Ooty. Coimbatore is connected to Bangalore, Chennai and Mumbai.

Coonoor

Kodaikanal

Kodaikanal, popularly known as Kodai, is situated among the Palani Hills at 2133m from sea level with its enchanting landscape.
Unique to the Western Ghats and flowering once in every 12 years, the 'Kurinji' shrub is found in abundance in Kodai. The next blossoming will be in 2004. Kodai provides a soothing escape from the heat and haze of the plains. The best time to visit Kodai is April-June and Aug-Oct. The temperature ranges between 8oC to 20oC.

How to Reach
Kodaikanal is 120km from Madurai and 64km from Palani. The nearest airport is Madurai. The nearest railhead is Kodai road, 80km from Kodai where one can get connection to the long distance trains. At Kodai road railway retiring rooms and Hotel Tamil Nadu run by TTDC are available for stopover. Regular bus services operate to Kodai from different towns in the state.

Palani: Palani's Malaikovil (hill temple) is the most famous temple dedicated to Lord Murugan. One has to climb 650 steps to access the inner sanctum of the temple. During January, for the Taipusam, over 200,000 devotees gather at Palani. Palani is 64km from Kodai and 57km from Dindigul.
Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary: Located along the Tamil Nadu - Kerala border, the sanctuary covers about 1000sq.km. The fauna includes elephant, gaur, tiger, panther, leopard, spotted deer, bear and many species of birds. The sanctuary is open throughout the year.

YERCAUD
Yercaud hill area is called "Shevaroyan Hills". It is also called "Ooty of the Poor". Yercaud is a small hill station in the Shevaroy Hills near Salem at a height of 1500 meters, a nice getaway from Coimbatore ( 200km ), quiet and serene, surrounded by coffee plantations, ideal for walks and relaxing. The annual summer festival is in May when there are boat races on the artificial lake; flower shows and fruits flood the stalls. Rail : Nearest Railheads are Salem Junction (35 kms ) and Salem Town.
Bus : Bus Services operate from Salem Junction and Salem Municipal Bus Stand to Yercaud frequently. There is no town bus service in Yercaud. But, certain buses coming from Salem ply through Yercaud and connect important villages like Cauvery Peak, Valavanthi, Nagalur, Vellakkadai Swinton Bridge with Yercaud.
